Organic Farming

The project deals with the empowerment of women farmers through the formation of women farmer associations at the gram panchayat level (lowest governance unit) in rural Odisha. It will focus on improving the livelihoods of these women farmers by promoting sustainable agriculture through the knowledge of integrated pest management and organic manure production. It would benefit 60 families in marginalized communities of Angul district in Odisha. In the long-term this project will improve the livelihoods of these women farmers. SANKALP, USA has supported the organization to implement a project titled “Improving the lives of women farmers by promoting sustainable agriculture” in 3 GPs of Banarpal and Angul Block under Angul District of Odisha” in the above mentioned context. The women Farmers learnt how to prepare the organic manures in compost pits at their village level. After explaining the procedure to the participants in local odia language along with audio visuals, a short field visit was organised for the participants for demonstration purposes, where they were able to see how all these are happening. They have also seen how the organic manures were prepared.
