SANKALP, USA has supported the organization to implement a project titled ”Promotion of Agro-Horticultural Activities among Women Farmers for Livelihood Enhancement in Banarpal & Angul Block of Angul District in Odisha”
The project encouraged 100 women farmers to undertake agro-horticultural activities, especially vegetable cultivations and daily consumables fruits like papaya, banana (ripe and raw), and drum sticks etc. as backyard products. With a little help and motivation, the target group can grow vegetables and fruits that will not only fulfill the needs of the family but will generate enough surpluses to earn some money for their families.
All the beneficiaries are provided with quality planting materials like hybrid seedling of papaya, drum-stick, and tissue culture of banana along with different kind of seeds like potato, tomato, onion, pumpkin, beans, green leaves (palang) etc. To educate the women farmers on scientific and improved agricultural practices and increase the production and productivity of the land, CDS organized an exposure visit programme. The basic objective of this visit was development of skills and capacities of these women farmers as regards scientific and integrated agriculture.
