Center for Development Service (CDS) has come a long way since its establishment in the late 1990s by a group of people deeply concerned about widespread poverty in the district of Angul who wanted to work for the poor and the marginalized groups by pooling local resources together. It started as a small movement specifically aimed at addressing the local needs of the poor and the socio-economically backward section of the society. In the absence of resources, the organization focused on empowering people through awareness generation so that they could demand and exercise their just rights. Later these initiatives assumed formal shape and became more organized when the organization was registered under Society Registration Act, 1860 and FCRA.
The organization has a vibrant executive committee consisting of board members from social sciences, education, agriculture, engineering & commerce background who play a supportive role. Our board has laid down the principles of democracy, equity and social justice as the guiding principles of the organization.
